This is often due to the fact that there are still many POD publishers who print anything the author is willing to pay for. But since Virtualbookworm.com is completely different and is extremely selective about the authors we choose, we have continued to search for ways to overcome the obstacles many stores place in your way.
One of the obstacles authors often cite is the ability to have books listed as “returnable.” We had a returns program for many years, but it was abused and a huge headache. However, we have revised the program and your book can be offered with full return privileges, just like a book printed by a "traditional" publisher. And the best part is that your participation in this program won't affect your royalties at all!
The cost to enroll in the Virtualbookworm Returns Program is only $500 for your first book (or binding style) and $140 for every subsequent title (or binding style) published with Virtualbookworm. For instance, if your book is available in both hardcover and softcover and you would like both to have return privileges, the first year would be $640. The program entitles you to return status for 12 months and royalty protection for 18 months. To renew after the initial period is only $140 per year (per binding style).
To prevent abuse of the program, you will receive royalties for books that are returned until the reach the cost of program. If the returns exceed that amount, we will let you know and give you options.
While the Virtualbookworm Returns Program doesn't guarantee that you will have a bestseller, it does give you the market, exposure and respect your book deserves.
