Escape from Despair: A Croatian Family's Survival
by Katarina Tepesh

“Escape from Despair: A Croatian Family's Survival” is a memoir set among Croatia's working-class during the communist era. This brutal and complex story depicts lives hemmed in by poverty and sexual abuse.

Bozena, an obedient, religious wife and her husband, Ivan, a violent alcoholic, struggle to survive with six children under the dictatorship of former Communist Yugoslavia. Dealing with hunger and sickness as part of their daily life, the children and Bozena manage to escape from Ivan. Unable to find a job and to make ends meet on a minimal income, the family is forced to deal with the black market and to escape from their bureaucratic country.

Thrilled to finally reach America, the family has difficulty coping with the trauma of their past.

Smashed, Squashed, Splattered, Chewed, Chunked and Spewed
by Lance Carbuncle

Idjit Galoot has a problem. He escaped from his master’s house for a brief romp around town, seeking out easy targets such as bitches in heat, fresh roadkill and unguarded garbage cans. When he returns to his house, the aged basset hound discovers that his master has packed up their belongings and moved to Florida without him.

The River, by Moonlight
by Camille Marchetta

ON A RAINY APRIL NIGHT in 1917, a passing vagrant sees a young woman fall (or is it jump?) into New York City's Hudson River. He tries to save her, but fails. The police tentatively identify the woman as Lily Canning, twenty-five years old, from Minuit, a town in the Hudson Valley.

But is it Lily? The question torments her mother, Henrietta, as she awaits confirmation. And when it comes, even more anguishing questions arise, for neither accident nor suicide makes sense. Lily could swim like a fish, and with her looks, and wealth, and talent, with an exhibition of her paintings about to open at a prestigious New York gallery, she had everything to live for.

God's Amazing Signs
by Grady Laxson

One of the most revealing and fascinating cases of God's symbolism happened in ancient Egypt when Joseph, son of Jacob, son of Isaac, son of Abraham, was glorified and made ruler of Egypt. His story perfectly prophesied the then-yet-to-come only begotten son of God.

Twin One & Twin Two
by Barb Thornton

Recipe for my manuscript - Twin One & Twin Two - a story of love and loss:

  • Take a unique idea, a tragedy that leads to unexpected joy
  • Enlarge it to captivate the mind and heart of the reader
  • Mix with turbulent emotions as Jazz faces one tough decision after another
  • Gently stir in a bit of fantasy as Jessie appears before her identical twin, Jazz
  • Throw in a cup of intrigue and suspense
  • Spice with humor as the two unborn babies voice their opinions
  • Lace with just enough information to make learning a pleasure
  • Add a generous helping of enduring faith that Jazz may overcome the arduous tasks set before her
  • Blend thoroughly with the knowledge that God is the master Chef and the end product is His design
