When Hugh Turner left his wife, Heather, to bring up their child alone, she was certain she would never love another man. Divorcee Gavin - good-looking, mild-mannered, and remote - appears to offer her a relationship without strings. Men like that don't come on the market very often. Surely there must be something wrong with him? Gavin's guilty secret gives Heather pause for thought, but doesn't stop her caring. Recognising parallels with her own situation, she sees no reason not to trust him, and actively welcomes the attention he gives her insecure eleven-year-old son. Then Gavin acts unexpectedly, throwing all their lives into disarray. Heather seeks a way to repair the damage, and unintentionally finds one…
