Cobblestones: Miracles on Main Street is the story of a young minister who goes into a deep depression after a tragic accident. Unable to cope, he takes a leave-of-absence, which alters his life immeasurably. He retreats from a city parish to a village where he gets involved in totally unexpected ways. It all started when he casually proded some abandoned church cobblestones into place. Before long, his grief and frustration slowly dissolve as he experiences an unthinkable love affair with an invisible parish, a community and a parishioner.

Richard Dickenson is a clergyman who hit the wall dead on. Down but not out, he struggles with grief, depression, and anger only to discover help in most unexpected ways. His ministry enlarges rather than shrinks as he grapples with typical parish situations: marital difficulties, desertion, inter-faith perplexities, leadership entanglements, civic matters, tyrants, AIDS, alcoholism, sexual orientation, schooling dilemmas and racism along with traditional and some rather unconventional pastoral duties. Cobblestones not only invites clerical leaders but lay persons to enter the inner sanctum of the contemporary church, mysterious yet immortal, maligned at times, yet essential.
