In the twilight years of the 22nd century, mankind is unified under a powerful empire. Its wealth is infinite. Its might is unquestioned. Those who are born into its power are predestined for greatness, and those born on its fringes live only to harvest the universe's wealth in service of the elite. But when a mysterious alien force, the Reapians, massacre the empire's outermost colonies, mankind's dominance of the galaxy is put to the test. Responding with the Armada, its greatest fleet of starships, helmed by the young prodigies of its aristocracy, the empire takes the fight to Reapian territory. Man's invincibility is never questioned...until the unthinkable happens.
Now, all order is in shambles, and billions of lives are on the line. The robotic forces of the Reapians are immune to fear, but turn its power against their human foes with horrifying effect. With the experienced leaders of the Armada dead, the only chance to avoid galactic genocide lies in a young leader with everything to lose and a hardened soldier with nothing to live for. Together, they lead the shell-shocked forces of Man against the most nightmarish opponent technology can imagine.
