One peek inside the pages will open up a whole world of African dreams explaining how one child wants to be assured that all the wonderful creatures now inhabiting the African wild will still be there when she grows up. This tantalizing illustrated book educates children about how some of the planet's most beloved animals might soon become extinct. From the magnificent elephant and brave lion, to the gentle gorilla and wily crocodile, all could lose out on their struggle to survive because of man's greed and ignorance. Children need to be especially alert not only to the story happening inside the little reader's handheld book, but also to the windows, which delightfully tease the observant child into guessing which creature lurks outside! African Dream is a reminder to all adults and young people that through education, we can still save earth's most valuable treasures; its wildlife!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Tyan Wyss longed to be a writer since the age of 14 when she wrote the first chapter of a never-ending novel still aching to be completed. Educated at the University of California with a Master's Degree in Literature she has been a teacher for 25 years. After working 12 years in California instructing Middle and High School English she moved overseas with her family to teach in International Schools and has lived in Saudi Arabia, Russia, and South Africa. Now a full-time writer, Tyan concentrates mostly on children's fiction, picture books, short stories, and adult mysteries. She lives with her husband Jack and two children in Johannesburg, South Africa and often visits nearby game parks to view those special wild animals in African Dream; many of which are now desperately fighting extinction.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
Sarita Immelman is a native South African who admits to always drawing as an adolescent when she should have been studying. Completing her studies in Communication Design and Animation at the TOW Arts Academy in Pretoria she has gone on to be a freelance illustrator, animator, and graphic artist. While enjoying working with acrylics, oil, and pencil, Sarita now concentrates on digital airbrush painting while constantly experimenting with different mediums. African Dream is her first illustrated children's book and depicts the images of those native African species she grew up with. She currently resides in Pretoria and is working on two other children's books with the author.
