ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Nydia Kastre has over 15 years experience in the field of diet and nutrition, serving as a wellness advisor, nutritionst, and technical dietitian at multiple hospitals and clinics, including the Women, Infants, and Children Clinic (WIC) and conducting programs for the Women’s Exercise Research Center at George Washington University. She earned her degree in Health, Wellness and Fitness from George Mason University in Virginia.
She believes in two important factors. the first being that eating habits are passed from generation to generation; therefore, awareness must start at an early age at home as well as at school. The second is that children can develop a special connection with healthy foods through interactive and associative learning. By doing so they empower themselves to make the right decisions when it comes to eating habits.
She is presently writing a series of books, using fantasy and realism to engage children in learning how food affects their bodies. She is also developing toys and games to integrate and support this fun learning process.
Nydia lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, Michael, who is also a writer. She loves to spend time with her family in the United States, Italy, and Colombia.
